Are you offering in-person sessions?
Yes, I offer in-person sessions at a private office in Long Beach, CA as well as online therapy for clients that prefer this or live in other areas of California.
What happens at the first session?
We talk about the concerns that have brought you to therapy and your goals for treatment. Sometimes people aren’t completely clear about what they need, and that is totally fine. I’ll ask questions to make sure I understand what’s going on and offer suggestions for what might be helpful. We’ll make sure we are on the same page and then decide about how to move forward. I will happily answer any questions you may have.
How often are therapy sessions?
Typically sessions are weekly and last for 50 minutes. Weekly sessions create a stable foundation for therapy to be effective. After a number of sessions, if you feel secure in the progress you’ve made and want to meet less frequently, that of course is an option.
How long does therapy take?
It’s different for everyone. Some people benefit from an ongoing relationship with a therapist, while others do well with short-term treatment. Once we’ve talked about the reasons you sought out therapy I will give you a general estimate of how long we could be working together to achieve your goals. Periodically we will review your progress, explore your feelings on how your therapy is going, and see if your goals are being achieved.
